Current Projects
A brief overview of some of my current research projects, including ongoing collaborations, can be found here. This does not include manuscripts actively undergoing blind peer review.
-
With Cora Fernández Anderson and Tamara Kay, this project leverages interviews with activists in Argentina, Mexico, and the United States to examine the conditions under which the advancement of reproductive rights in each country are hindered or promoted, highlighting the role of the state, the political climate, and the sociocultural factors that influence these outcomes.
-
with Camila Alvarez, Kerry Ard, and Clare Evans, this project analyzes intersectional exposure to industrial air toxins in Appalachia at the neighborhood level, highlighting the role of overlapping environmental policy regimes within the region, and the impact this has on the regulation and enforcement of industrial air pollution, as well as which demographics pay the highest health burden.
-
An extension of my dissertation, this project investigates how women’s property ownership relates to their experiences of marital control, a key relational indicator of empowerment, measured using case‑specific scales that capture the frequency of restrictive and coercive partner behaviors.
-
with Jami Nelson Nuñez, this project explores the relationship between women’s household decision making power and improved water and sanitation (WaSH) outcomes in Peru.
-
with Bailey Gerrits, this project examines diverse leadership during times of crisis, using social media communication to examine intersectional experiences of backlash.
